Karakol Skiing Area, the best from Central-Asia!

With the skiing area being the highest, with the most kilometers and is also not the most expensive, we can safely say that the Karakol skiing area is the best area for winter sports in Central-Asia. On top of that, it is an area with something in it for everyone.

Karakol Skiing Area

Both beginning winter sports enthusiasts and experienced enthusiasts will find something here to their liking: there are blue, red and black pistes and a whole further valley with many trees to make your own tracks. For the freeriders among us: the area has tons of off-ski-slope potential. And there is even a small funpark.

Sometimes freeriders are a bit lazy: for a negotiable, but negligible amount you can get to the top of the ski area with a snowmobile. After, you can go all the way down from about 3450 meters.

The snow in the Karakol Skiing Area is in huge amounts and of exceptional quality due to Lake Issyk Kul (which provides a sort of microclimate). On nice days you can ski in lush, meters high, slightly dry powdered snow. Champagne powder, we call it :)! It can get quite busy during school holidays and weekends. Outside free days however, you seem to have the area all to yourself. The area is easily accessible by ski bus or taxi. If you have your own transport, be sure to get something that can drive off-road, as the roads get quite bumpy.
